STICKBALL RULES

  • The goal for today is to help the children of Catholic Schools. Good Sportsmanship is expected.
  • The decision of the umpire is uncontestable
  • This is an elimination tournament
    a. Gramar School Teams – Single Elimination
    b. High School – Double Elimination; Min. 3 Girls on Team
    c. Friendly Teams – Single Elimination
    d. Competitive Teams – Double Elimination
    e. Pick-up Games will be available
  • The teams shall consist of a maximum of 8 players. Six players will take the field, everyone will bat around
  • The batter will bounce or toss his ball up to hit
  • The batter must use a wooden stickball bat
  • The games will be 5 innings (Competitive Final will be 7 innings) to a Maximum Time of 40 Minutes
    a. Except if a team is down by 17 runs after 3 innings
    b. Except if a team is down by 9 runs after 4 innings
  • An inning will end after three outs
  • An out will occur if a batter makes two strikes
  • A foul on the second strike is an out
  • An out will occur if a fielder catches the ball before the first base marker on the ground or air
  • An out will occur is a fielder catches the ball in the air beyond the first base marker.
  • Fielders can be arranged in any setup
    An inning will end if the batting order bats around. i.e. a maximum of eight should bat only once per inning. Team playing with 6 or 7 will have 8 batters
  • A hit will be judged by the umpire
    a. Single – Uncaught Ball beyond the first marker
    i. An Uncaught Ball that does not beyond first is a foul ball
    b. Double – Uncaught Ball beyond the second marker
    c. Triple – Uncaught Ball beyond the third marker
    d. Homer – Uncaught Ball beyond the fourth marker
  • The batter does not run the bases
  • Invisible Runners advance by a force
